Amirhossein Takian (MD MPH PhD FHEA) is Full Professor; Founding Director, Centre of Excellence for Global Health; Department Head of Global Health & Public Policy; and Vice-Dean for International Affairs at the School of Public Health (SPH)- Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS), Iran. Amir was WHS International President in 2019 and serves as a member of WHS Executive Committee and a founding council member of Virchow Foundation for Global Health, Germany. A physician by training, Prof. Takian has a track record of research in advanced health policy analysis in the field of good governance, evidence-based policymaking and global health. He has published over 200 peer reviewed journal articles, 25 books, 7 book chapters, and 24 commissioned national and international reports. Prof. Takian was awarded National Figure for Social Responsibility and Professionalism (2024); outstanding international figure of the year, TUMS (2024); TUMS’ best researcher in 2023; best professor in 2022; the best educational national award of Iran in the field of medical sciences in 2017, the global AMEE award in 2018, the best teacher award of SPH-TUMS in 2019, and three times joint international figure of TUMS and Tehran University in 2019, 2021 and 2023. Dr.Takian is a lifetime fellow of the Higher Education Academy of the United Kingdom. He is the main author and Editor of the Reference Book of Health Policy in Iran (2021).
