Prof. (Dr.) Arvind Kumar is the Chairman, Institute of Chest Surgery, Chest Onco Surgery and Lung Transplantation & Co- Chairman, Medanta Robotic Institute at Medanta Hospital, Gurugram and Founder & Managing Trustee, Lung Care Foundation. He is former Professor of Surgery & Head of Thoracic & Robotic Surgery Unit at the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi (1988-Feb, 2012). He is credited with having pioneered the delivery of organised Open Thoracic Surgery, Video-assisted Thoracic Surgery and Robotic Thoracic Surgery in India and today leads the largest team of thoracic surgeons in India performing maximum numbers of Thoracic surgery including Lung Transplantation. He is known for his passion for teaching and research which has led to his being a prominent guest speaker and faculty at all surgical meetings across the country and over 200 publications in reputed medical journals. He has been witness to the change in colour of lungs of the people of India due to pollution, which motivated him to start Lung Care Foundation (LCF) : a registered not for profit organization. LCF has conducted various Lung Health Awareness Programs, engaged with thousands of school children across the country and created a “Guinness World Record” for largest “Human lung Image” breaking the records of China and UAE. This was done to catch the attention of nation towards the ill-effects of pollution and consequent damage to lung health. Lung Care Foundation in partnership with Health Care Without Harm, launched ‘Doctors for Clean Air’ (DFCA), bringing together hundreds of doctors from across the country to pledge to be advocates for Clean Air i.e. Clean Air Champions by highlighting the health ill-effects of Air Pollution and working towards viable solutions. Over 20 National Medical Associations (representing over 1,50,000 specialist Doctors of India) have pledged their support to this program. Prof. Kumar has delivered invited lectures at WHO headquarters at Geneva, United Nations headquarters at New York as well as COP meetings and his videos on the same topic have had a global viewership of millions which have inspired people across the globe to work on this problem. Considering his singular contribution to medical field, Govt. of India awarded him the most prestigious “Dr. B.C. ROY AWARD” as “EMINENT MEDICAL PERSON” of the year 2014. (Awarded by H.E.
