Arthur Wyns is an Assistant Director in the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care, where he coordinates the National Health, Sustainability and Climate Unit and supports the implementation of Australia’s first National Health and Climate Strategy. Arthur is an experienced advisor on climate policy and global environmental governance and has worked for national governments, UN agencies, and academic institutions.
Previously, Arthur was a senior health advisor to the UAE government, as the host of the COP28 UN climate conference. He organised the first-ever Health Day at a COP and negotiated the COP28 Declaration on climate and health, which was endorsed by 150 countries. He was a climate change advisor to the World Health Organization from 2019 to 2023, and is an editor of the Journal of Climate Change and Health.
