Cleopa Mailu

Dr. Cleopa Mailu is the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Health, Government of Kenya. Dr. Mailu has a wealth of experience in the healthcare sector, both private and public. He is the immediate former Chief Executive Officer of The Nairobi Hospital, where he led the institution to its premier position in East Africa. He has also been Director of Kenya’s Health Sector Reform Programme, Project officer Unicef India Country office and a respected international consultant. Dr. Mailu is a trained clinical geneticist and has a Master’s degree in Medical Sciences Genetics from the University of Glasgow, as well as various Professional qualifications in management and governance. An active board member, he has chaired the Federation of Kenya Employers FKE, The council of Machakos University College, and the Kenya Healthcare Federation Board, and has held various other directorships. Dr. Mailu is a published scholar in his fields of expertise, and the recipient of several awards and honours.
