Dr Ali Sié has been working as a research fellow at Nouna Health Research Centre (CRSN) since 2004 and was appointed as Director of CRSN in 2006. He is a medical doctor with extensive experience in the design and conduct of clinical, epidemiology and field intervention trials. Dr Ali Sié obtained his MD degree at Ouagadougou University and is currently completing his PhD training in Meningitis Epidemiology at Heidelberg University, Germany.Dr Sié worked at the Banfora Regional Hospital, Ministry of Health, Burkina Faso as a senior clinician for five (5) years until his transfer to Nouna Health Research Centre, Ministry of Health, Burkina Faso as a Health Research Scientist to develop the clinical research component. Before being appointed as Director of the Research Centre in 2006, he headed the Research and Training Unit. He has held several other positions as member of the Burkina Faso national HIV epidemiologic surveillance committee, chairman, Council of Ministry of Health Research Centre, Burkina Faso among other positions. Dr Sié was one of the senior members who characterized the clinical research of the Nouna Health Research Centre and developed it into a malaria drugs testing site. He has since his transfer from the Banfora Regional Hospital been instrumental for the implementation of a sustainable clinical setting in Nouna hospital for clinical research. Dr Sié is currently involved in field supervision of masters and doctoral students of Burkina Faso and other foreign Universities and has been Principal Investigator for several clinical/field interventions trials and authored/co-authored several papers in peer reviewed journals.
