Khairul Abdullah

Professor Abdullah obtained the degree Drs from the Faculty of Medicine, in the year 1974. In 1982 graduated from the Tulane School of Medicine, USA with MPH and PhD in Immunology. Under the Fulbright Scholar he did his Post Doctorate in Harvard Medical School. To date he has published more than 200 publications in learned Medical Journals. In recognition of his research output he was awarded the MSPTM Silver medal in the year 1988. In the year 1998 he was awarded the Toray Science Award for distinguished researcher of the year 2001. Again in the year 2002 the Sandosam Gold Medal was conferred on him for achievements and contribution in Tropical disease research. Outstanding contribution to Science and Technology, the MSA Award by Malaysian Scientific Association (MSA) 2011. Academician, Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) in 2013. He is a fellow of the Australasia College of Tropical Medicine. In 2007 Professor Abdullah was appointed as the Foundation Dean of the Faculty of Medicine. In 2012 he was appointed as the Vice Chancellor & CEO of MAHSA University. Other positions held currently are: Chairman of The Brain Gain Malaysia for MOSTI, President of the Malaysian Science Association, Board Member of TORAY Science Foundation, Member of the Medical Advisory Panel (FOMEMA). Member of the Awards Committee Academy Science Malaysia. Member of the selection Committee Mahathir Science Award. Member of the Science, Technology and Innovation Policy Advisory Committee (STIPAC). Chairman of Medical and Health Sector, and council member Academy Science Malaysia. Recently Elected as President elect of The Association of Academies and Societies of Sciences in Asia (AASSA). Now he has been elected as Chairman, Vice Chancellors’ Council for Private Universities in Malaysia. Effective in 1st January 2019, he has been promoted the position of Pro Chancellor, MAHSA University. Currently, he is the Chairman of the Climate Change and Health for ASIA.
