Former UN Assistant Secretary General / UNICEF Deputy Executive Director, Shanelle brought innovation and commercial experience to UNICEF. When the world was facing global vaccine shortages, in 2001 she launched the concept of “Vaccine Security – an uninterrupted, sustainable supply of quality-assured vaccines.” She used this strategy to transform the organization from a traditional procurer of vaccines to a driver of access and sustainability with market shaping approaches and strategic financing. In 2011, she boldly led the decision to make all vaccine prices paid by UNICEF public, including a 10-year retrospective. This approach was extended to all strategic health products. After support to the 2014-2016 West Africa Ebola outbreak, she led organization-wide change to improve future response to health emergencies - UNICEF’s Health Emergencies Preparedness Initiative (HEPI). Upon leaving the UN in 2019, Shanelle founded the Yellow House to further accelerate organisations' positive impact on humanity. As its founder, she provides advice on strategy, ethos and purpose to leaders in governments, UN agencies, NGOs, and corporations across the globe. TYH has become a trusted partner and think tank – with experts from across sectors delivering analysis and advocacy on some of the world’s biggest challenges. Shanelle has been a Board Member and on Board Committees of various organisations including Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance and The Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB & Malaria.
