Ogechi Onuoha is the Programme Director at MSI Nigeria, where she leads the design, development, and implementation of programmes that enable access to sexual and reproductive health across Nigeria’s 36 states and Abuja. These programmes also support national and state governments in enabling policy change, service delivery, health systems strengthening, and sustainable demand and norm change. Ogechi leads on new business development and fundraising, and coordinates strategy.
Before joining MSI Nigeria, Ogechi worked with the Society for Family Health (SFH) where she led the implementation of maternal health, child survival, and nutrition interventions. This included the local manufacture of child survival commodities and private sector engagement in 22 states. She also led research grants and several intervention programmes on child health, nutrition, adolescent health, tuberculosis, and family planning.
While working at the Africa Health Human, and Social Development (Afri-Dev), Ogechi led and coordinated advocacy work on maternal, newborn and child health, working with the Africa Union institutions and the Pan-African Parliament to facilitate high-level engagement with African Ministers of Health, Finance, Youth, and Parliamentarians on policy and budget action. This included work with Sub-regional Economic Commissions such as ECOWAS, SADC, EAC, and Sub-regional Parliamentary Institutions such as EALA, and ECOWAS. At Journalists Against AIDS (JAAIDS) Nigeria, Ogechi led a youth internship programme and facilitated media training for journalists on AIDS and tuberculosis reporting. She is a graduate of Mass Communication and has a master’s in public health (MPH).
