Wilson Mlaki is currently the Executive Director of Saint Luke Foundation which is an institution of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT). He has long experience in innovating, designing and managing training programs for pharmaceutical personnel especially for lower and middle cadres. He is the first pharmacist to work with a very important project (Infusion Units Project) whose main objective was to assure access of quality intravenous fluids through supporting hospitals to prepare the fluids locally in their hospital pharmacies. He worked in designing and implementing a tailor made short course for personnel who will work in these hospitals production units to produce infusions and assure the quality and safety of the produced infusions. He is the founder of the Kilimanjaro School of Pharmacy (KSP) which was established in 2002 and played a role in transforming the Infusion Units Project into a registered trust ‘The Saint Luke Foundation’ in 2004. He was the first Principal of KSP until December 2015. Wilson Mlaki guided the expansion and accreditation of the school by working closely with KSP professional team; government regulatory authorities in Tanzania and many partners from different countries, mainly from Germany under the public private partnership to innovate and implement new training programs as well as improving the existing programs.
His main area of focus and that of Saint Luke Foundation is Training and Support Services for Pharmaceuticals and Health Systems Strengthening.
Wilson Mlaki is a pharmacist and holds a Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Services and Medicines Control from Bradford University in UK.
