Mark Chataway is the Managing Partner for Global Public Health in Europe, the Middle East and Africa for FINN Partners, a consulting group focused on policy research and analysis, public affairs and communications. Mark often leads projects designed to understand the evolution of health priorities and policy in high, middle and low-income countries. He has been involved in HIV since 1983, when he was the first communications director of the Gay Men’s Health Crisis in New York. Since then, he has worked in management or in a board capacity for groups including AIDS United, Amplify Change, Engender Health, the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative and the (UK) National AIDS Trust. He has worked on HIV or SRHR consulting projects for clients including Christian Connections in International Health, the Department of Science & Technology of the Government of South Africa, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Gilead, the William & Flora Hewlett Foundation, the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, MSD and ViiV. As a former journalist with an academic background in psychology, Mark has a strong interest in the impact of communications on beliefs, behaviour and policy. Working with several university partners, Mark has helped evaluate whether particular campaigns and funds have changed the ways that people and countries think and act.
As a professional moderator, Mark has helped structure events for international organisations, universities, governments and multinational pharmaceutical companies. Marl also often leads smaller workshops on issues ranging from nutrition to the future of primary care and the introduction of new specialist treatments.
