Mirfin Mpundu is the Head of Action on Antibiotic Resistance (ReAct) Africa. An organization that acts as a catalyst, advocating for and stimulating country, regional and global engagement on antibiotic resistance by collaborating with broad range of organizations, individuals and stakeholders. Mirfin is a member of several boards and technical working groups including the World Health Organization Strategic and Technical Advisory Group (STAG) on AMR. Mirfin is also the Executive Director of the Ecumenical Pharmaceutical Network (EPN).
A Registered Clinical pharmacist and Public Health Specialist with 20+ years of proven experience in public health, infectious diseases, pharmaceutical supply chain management, clinical management, logistics and regulatory pharmacy practice experience. Mirfin has supported several countries develop their AMR National Action Plans including Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Kenya among others. He is passionate about the inclusion and participation of Church Health Facilities within the global health agenda including, equitable access to quality-assured medicines, rational use, universal health coverage (UHC) and connection between AMR and attaining the SDG and UHC agenda’s. He is strong voice on inclusion of the global south and perspectives of African countries on AMR.
Mirfin advocates regionally and globally on AMR. He has spoken on AMR at numerous events including, the World Health Assembly side events, the United Nations High-Level Meeting in 2019, the 2nd Ministerial Conference on AMR and contributed to publications on AMR.
