Julio Daniel Mazzoleni Insfrán is a Doctor of Medicine, graduated in the honor roll of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the National University of Asuncion. He completed his residency in internal medicine, as well as a specialization in Rheumatology, at Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
He graduated from the Agrupación Naval del Centro de Instrucción Militar para Estudiantes y Formación de Oficiales de Reserva (CIMEFOR), in compliance with the Obligatory Military Service.
In his formative trajectory, he received the Resident Teaching Award at Emory University, and was the best graduate in the area of Health in the Course for Perfection of Officers of the National Navy. He was President of the Center for Medical Students, of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the UNA, in 1994, and was recognized as an outstanding student for his academic merits, sports and guilds with the Student of the Year Award 1993.
Before becoming Minister, Dr. Mazzoleni served as Chief of the Rheumatology Service at the Central Hospital of the Social Welfare Institute. He was also part of the medical staff of the Hospital de la Sanidad de la Armada Paraguaya and, after serving as a military health doctor for 18 years, retired voluntarily with the rank of Corvette Health Captain. He also served as a rheumatologist in his private practice for 15 years.
At the beginning of his professional career, he served as a paramedic and doctor in the Ambulance Emergency Service (SASA).
With respect to activities developed in the academic sector, he was instructor in charge of the block of Rheumatology, chair of Medical Pathology, of the Faculty of Health Sciences, of the Catholic University. He founded and coordinates the IPS Medical Residency Program in Rheumatology and the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Catholic University, where he was the main tutor.
In two terms, he chaired the Paraguayan Society of Rheumatology and, in 2013, was President of the III Paraguayan Congress of Rheumatology.
He has published several scientific papers and has held national and international congresses, as a lecturer, lecturer and director, focusing on rheumatology, geriatrics, family medicine, internal medicine, among other specialties. Dr. Mazzoleni is fluent in English, Guarani and Portuguese.
Julio Mazzoleni is from Paraguay, born in Asunción on December 19, 1971, married and father of two children.
