He is currently Professor of CM at China Medical University (CMU), President of the Chinese Medical Advancement Foundation (CMAF), and President of the Taiwan Association for the Education of Chinese Medicine (TAECM).
Since 2000, Dr. Su has successively served as Director of School and Graduate Institute of CM of CMU. He planned and executed reform in the educational system. He also established the new curriculums, teaching methods, postgraduate education and teacher development. In 2013, in order to integrate the CM education resources, he established the TAECM to improve the quality of CM education and clinical training.
In 1990, Su opened the new field of CM constitution research in Taiwan. In 2008, the Body Constitution Questionnaire (BCQ) was developed by psychometrically-sound method and published in academic journals. Then, as an important tool for bridging the MM and CM, BCQ was authorized to academic institutions and applied in clinical researches. Additionally, the BCQ was integrated into Taiwan Biobank to construct the big data of Taiwanese constitution as well. In 2017 and 2018, Su conducted a preventive medicine national project. This project employed the core concept of ‘constitution strengthening’ and adopted diet modification and qigong to further improve effectiveness of health care.
Su has the clinical expertise, which integrates both MM and CM, in treating cancer, autoimmune, emergent and severe diseases. In 2001 and 2003, Su assisted the establishment of the CM Department in two medical centers. From 2004 to 2008, CMAF held a series of 19 MM and CM dialogue forums, later in 2014, an international dialogue forum was held in Taipei. In 2016, Su integrated four medical centers to execute the project ‘Establishment of Integrative Teaching Integrative Model of modern and CM in the Care of Cancer Patients.’ In 2016, Su designed a structured 20 credit-CM curriculum for MM students. He believes that the new integrative medicine will be achieved in the future through continuing communication and cooperation between MM and CM doctors and scholars.
