Flavia Machado is a professor and head of the Anesthesiology, Pain and Intensive Care Department at the Feder University of Sao Paulo in Brazil. Machado is board certified in internal medicine, infectious diseases, and critical care.
She is one of the founders of the Latin America Sepsis Institute - LASI being currently its CEO. She is also part of the executive board of the Global Sepsis Alliance as well as the executive committee for World Sepsis Day. Machado served as a member of the Survicing Sepsis Board in 2012, 2016, and 2020. She is also a member of the Executive Committee and the current chair of the Scientific Committee of the Brazilian Research in Intensive Care Network (BRICNET). Furthermore, Dr. Machado is the founder of the Latin America Intensive Care Network (LIVEN) and member of the Diversity Task Force of the European Society of Intensive Care Medicine.
