Natasha Smith has been accredited as Australian Ambassador to Germany since March 2024.
Her career spans over 30 years and includes a broad range of policy, program and corporate roles, in Australia and overseas. Prior to coming to Berlin, she held the position of First Assistant Secretary, Multilateral Policy, First Nations and Human Rights at the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). Previous postings of hers include Canada (High Commissioner, 2018-2021), Australian Mission to the United Nations, New York (Counsellor Development, 2004-2008) and Jakarta (First Secretary Development), 1999-2001). She was also one of DFAT's inaugural LGBTI Champions.
Natasha Smith holds a Bachelor of Economics from James Cook University. She speaks some basic Japanese and Bahasa Indonesia and is eagerly learning German.
