Dr. Martin Fitchet, M.D., is the CEO of Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV), a Swiss foundation dedicated to developing accessible medicines to treat, prevent, and eliminate malaria. Under his leadership, MMV collaborates globally to accelerate innovation and access, aiming to eradicate malaria.
Dr. Fitchet, a graduate of the University of Nottingham Medical School (UK) and a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England since 1995, brings over 20 years of extensive experience in R&D and global health. With a background as a trained surgeon, he later joined the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Medicine in London and worked with several pharmaceutical companies. Before joining MMV, he led J&J Global Public Health, pioneering innovations and improving global access to treatments for high-burden diseases such as Tuberculosis, HIV, Mental Health, Neglected Tropical Diseases, Ebola, and COVID-19, particularly in underserved communities. His deep interest in neglected tropical diseases and access to medicines drives MMV’s strategy to close critical gaps in research, development, and access.
