About Michele Gonçalves dos Ramos
With a Bachelor's degree in International Relations from the University of São Paulo and a Master's degree in International Security from Sciences Po Paris, Michele has spent the past decade working in civil society on a range of issues related to public security, development, and the defense of democracy. Notably, between 2019 and 2022, she led mobilization, advocacy, and political engagement efforts focused on gun control in Brazil. In 2020, she was recognized by the United Nations Regional Centre for Peace, Disarmament and Development in Latin America and the Caribbean (UNLIREC) for her contributions as a change agent in arms control across the region.
Since January 2023, she has been part of the team at the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, where she focuses on training programs for public security professionals and promotes research aimed at improving public security policies. In 2023, she coordinated the Ministry’s working group on firearms and ammunition control policy and has continued to contribute to this agenda within the federal government. In 2024, she joined Columbia University's Brazilian Women Leaders Network.
