Anja Hanisch is currently Head of Division of the Health, Education and Social Protection team for East Africa and the African Union at KfW Development Bank. In this context, she is involved with product development partnerships. She has been with KfW for almost 10 years, most recently as Senior Portfolio Manager and Deputy Team Leader for West Africa. Ever since joining KfW at their office in Kabul, Afghanistan, she has built a strong experience in community development, resilience / stabilization projects, as well as trust funds and local development funds. Before joining KfW, Anja was a Mercator Fellow on International Affairs, and gained insights into national, multilateral and NGO perspectives on conflict prevention related to natural resources. Her PhD thesis on the “German Democratic Republic in the Conference on security and cooperation in Europe” received the Dissertation Award of the German Leibniz Association.
