Dr Asma leads WHO’s efforts in using data to ensure measurable progress is made towards WHO’s Triple Billion targets and the health-related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Dr Asma has more than 25 years of experience building teams and partnerships that lead public health programmes and policies to catalyze long-term impact.
Dr Asma has contributed to more than 100 publications, books and policy papers on epidemiology, health surveillance and data-driven public health policy. She is also internationally recognized as a scientific and policy expert on global tobacco control, noncommunicable diseases, environmental health and injuries.
