About Felicitas Riedl

Felicitas is the Director of the Innovation and Competitiveness Department at the EIB’s Projects Directorate (since Feb. 2022). She oversees technical and economic due diligence of EIB’s projects in R&D-intensive sectors, including CRM, automotive, pharmaceutical, and telecom industries, as well as education, health, and digital infrastructures. In her department projects from the public and private sector are covered benefitting from the entire range of financial products offered by EIB. Before this role, she was the Head of the Life Science and Health Division, which she joined in 2007 as a Life Science Specialist. In this capacity, she was responsible for the life sciences, pharmaceutical, and health sectors. A key achievement during her tenure was successfully leading the team through the COVID-19 pandemic, positioning EIB as a strong partner in the sector by establishing critical partnerships with organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), and the Wellcome Trust. Before joining the EIB, Felicitas worked at the European Investment Fund as an Investment Manager, focusing on technology transfer. Her main tasks included analyzing technology transfer, developing financial instruments targeting this area, and implementing these funding structures. Prior to that, she worked as a strategy consultant for L.E.K. Consulting in Munich and Los Angeles, where she focused on Private Equity, M&A, and Life Sciences, handling business planning, market research, and development of market entry strategies, as well as financial and commercial due diligence. Felicitas holds a Master of Science from Philipps University of Marburg with a major in human genetics and molecular biology and was a visiting researcher at Stanford University in Palo Alto. She recently completed the Advanced Management Program (AMP) at Harvard Business School in Boston.
