Dr. Humphrey D. Mazigo, PhD (Public Health) is an infectious diseases epidemiologist and Senior Lecturer in the Department of Medical Parasitology at the School of Medicine, Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences-Bugando, Mwanza, Tanzania. His active research interest is in epidemiology, immunoepidemiology, immunomorbidity and control of neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) in sub-Saharan Africa, mainly schistosomiasis, soil-transmitted helminths and human cystic echinococcosis. He is particularly interested in the epidemiology, diagnosis, designing innovative intervention against neglected tropical diseases, implementation and evaluation of public health interventions for prevention, control and potential elimination of helminthic neglected tropical diseases. He is also interested in understanding how neglected tropical diseases (schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminths) interact with malaria and HIV-1 infection in causing morbidity. He has authored and co-authored over 60 scientific publications and book chapters in international and local peer reviewed journals and books. In addition, he serves as a reviewer for manuscript submitted to international and local journals in the field of medical parasitology and public health and proposal submitted to international donors in the field of infectious diseases (mainly neglected tropical diseases).
