Dr. Dixon Chibanda is a psychiatrist with special interest in community mental health and the development and validation of screening instruments for mental neurological and substance use disorders at primary health care level. His most recent research has been on the development of culturally appropriate interventions for common mental disorders which are delivered by lay health workers aimed at reducing the treatment gap for common mental disorders.
His other research interests include exploring the use of alternative non-pharmacological interventions for alleviating learning disorders which include attention deficit hyperactive disorders and dyslexia. His research work is currently funded by the Wellcome Trust and Grand Challenges Canada.
