Dr. Martin van den Boom, a graduate physician with doctorate from the Rheinisch-Westfaelische Technische University, Aachen, Germany and public health post-graduate Master degree from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, has been working for WHO in different World Regions, having provided technical assistance to more than 40 WHO Member States. His special interests are TB integration in primary health care, childhood TB, health economics, M/XDR-TB prevention and care and health systems strengthening. Prior to working for WHO he worked clinically in pediatrics and internal medicine with a focus on lung diseases. In addition to his degrees, Dr. van den Boom has accomplished several postgraduate study courses and has been (co-)author of several scientific publications.
