Jaifred Christian F Lopez, or Jim, is an assistant professor at the Department of Nutrition, College of Public Health, University of the Philippines (UP) Manila, where he specializes in health policy and systems research as applied to public health and nutrition programs. He also serves as Special Assistant to the Dean. He finished his medical degree from UP Manila under the Integrated Arts and Medicine accelerated program, and his master in public management, major in health systems and development at the Development Academy of the Philippines. He is also an alumnus of the Department of Health Doctors to the Barrios program. His research, published both locally and internationally, focuses on the measurement of public health problems and devising community-oriented solutions. He has actively collaborated with the Institute of Health Policy and Development Studies at the National Institutes of Health, UP Manila; the Alliance for Improving Health Outcomes; Physicians for Peace Philippines; and the Global Burden of Disease network. He holds leadership posts in the Philippine Society of Public Health Physicians, and Tambalista, Inc., a group of scientists in nature-based products research. He is also a core collaborator for HealthXPh, a social media platform advocating for the responsible use of social media for healthcare.
