About the session

Despite increasing global and national commitments to tackle antimicrobial resistance (AMR), translating these into effective and sustained action remains a challenge. A core barrier is not only the lack of high-quality, cross-sectoral data—but also the underuse of available tools, standards, and evidence in informing decision-making and evaluating outcomes. This session brings together different perspectives on data, interventions and policy to explore how countries and stakeholders can better harness existing data and tools to plan, prioritize, and implement impactful interventions, particularly in low- and middle-income settings.

Strengthening both the generation and the strategic use of data, tools, and standards is essential for impactful and accountable AMR policy implementation. In this session we will talk about which specific AMR burden and surveillance data we need to better inform prioritization and implementation planning. How can we improve the use of evidence on which interventions work best across sectors and Regions. And how can implementation experiences and data from the field better inform future policy and investment decisions?
