About the session

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the potential to transform healthcare, offering improved diagnostics, personalized treatments, and more efficient resource management. However, without effective governance, AI risks exacerbating inequalities and producing biased or inaccurate outcomes, undermining trust and fairness. Clear standards and oversight are essential to protect vulnerable populations, promote accountability, and ensure that AI-driven innovations can scale and be widely adopted to reach Universal Health Coverage.

This session organized by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and HealthAI focuses on implementing global standards and strengthening regulatory bodies for AI solutions with a particular focus on sustainable development. Partners will reinforce their commitment to ensuring global access to safe and effective AI solutions for patients as part of an alliance aimed at advancing responsible AI governance in health.

A global, diverse panel will discuss how to implement responsible AI standards through a network of regulatory mechanisms. They will explore how a robust governance ecosystem can anchor AI in ethical principles and build trust, ensuring long-term acceptability of AI advancements in healthcare. Finally, the session will address the collaborative approaches and resources necessary across regions and countries to create such an ecosystem.
