About the session
Amid seismic shifts in global dynamics and ongoing geopolitical realignment, sustained dialogue and knowledge exchange are more critical than ever. Health serves as a diplomatic bridge, creating a unifying space grounded in shared vulnerability, scientific evidence, and collective responsibility. Even in times of fragmentation and polarization, health can foster engagement among diverse actors by aligning priorities and strengthening cooperation across regions, sectors, and institutions.
Transnational health and science challenges—from pandemic preparedness and climate change to digital transformation and technology governance—highlight the need for collective problem-solving and innovative, equitable, and sustainable action. By integrating evidence, policy, and diplomacy, stakeholders can address these threats, strengthen multilateral partnerships, and build trust across communities and nations.
The future of science diplomacy depends on professionals who can navigate both scientific and diplomatic spheres, preserving the integrity of evidence while translating knowledge into action. By fostering dialogue among scientists, policymakers, and diplomats, we can reinforce the resilience of the global health architecture.
This session will highlight the role of diplomacy, dialogue, and evidence as foundations for advancing global health. Panelists will discuss approaches and tools to maximize the combined impact of health, science, and diplomacy in promoting cooperation and wellbeing. The newly established World Health Summit Working Group on Health and Science Diplomacy will also be formally launched, including an overview of its vision, workstreams, and opportunities for partnership and collaboration.
By convening diverse stakeholders, the session will explore how evidence can be translated into influence, how cooperation can be sustained in a multipolar world, and how health can continue to serve as a unifying force for global engagement and multilateral action.
