About the session

The purpose of this session is to open a dialogue on Commercial Determinants of Health (CDoH) at the World Health Summit (WHS) 2024. The aim of the session is to raise awareness of CDoH and provide recommendations for deliberation by:
1) Clarifying CDoH concepts and terminology;
2) Present the case for serious consideration of CDoH in global health; and
3) Support the global health community with evidence-informed recommendations.

This session will use key questions, map the territory, and identify potential routes for stakeholders in global health. The session will also build on the previous work done by academic partners of the WHS Academic Alliance (formerly M8 Alliance) and the World Health Organization (WHO). The discussion will constitute an important milestone for institutional partners and individual participants to discuss, research and deliberate on CDoH in their contexts for global health.
