About the session

Digital health technologies are rapidly transforming how non-communicable diseases (NCDs)—such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, chronic respiratory conditions, and cancer—are prevented, diagnosed, and managed, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). With increasing momentum for progress stemming from the UN High-Level Meeting on NCDs, integrating digital tools like mobile health, telemedicine, AI diagnostics, and data-driven decision support is critical to closing gaps in access, improving patient-centered care, and strengthening strained health systems.

However, challenges remain around infrastructure, interoperability, data privacy, and digital literacy, which must be addressed to realize scalable and equitable solutions. This session will explore practical strategies and innovations that can accelerate digital health integration across diverse contexts, emphasizing cross-sector collaboration and sustainability.

To anchor the discussion, we will present a case study from the City Cancer Challenge -Siemens Healthineers partnership, based on 18 months of analysis and consultations across urban LMIC settings highlighting key trends, gaps, and technology needs, offering lessons applicable to the broader NCD landscape.

We will hear from global financing institutions on how national digital strategies can be translated into investment roadmaps and supported through multi-sector collaboration; from technical assistance providers on how digital tools are being integrated into health systems in real-world LMIC settings; from regional public health actors on efforts to align platforms and governance frameworks across countries; and from government representatives who will offer grounded perspectives on infrastructure, policy priorities, and the conditions for sustainable, people-centered innovation.
