Dear friends,
We are less than two months away from the World Health Summit 2022 and we all look forward to be welcoming many of you in Berlin. Co-hosted by the World Health Organization and WHO's Director-General Dr Tedros, WHS 2022 will bring together the brightest minds in global health from all sectors in all regions of the world, including numerous ministers and heads of state, renowned scientists, and high-level representatives from the private sector as well as civil society. Under the theme "Making the Choice for Health", over 300 speakers in around 60 sessions will discuss new strategies for global health and set the course for a healthier future. At the opening ceremony on Sunday, October 16 at 6PM CET, speakers will include German Chancellor Scholz, French President Macron and Senegal's President Sall.
Preparations are in full swing and we are happy to be adding more and more renowned experts to the list of speakers. The program is updated daily with details on the sessions - take a look and mark your favorites. And: Register now for on-site participation.

Strong Message by WHS 2022 Patron Olaf Scholz
Patrons of WHS 2022 are German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron, and WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus - all of them attending WHS 2022 in person. In his welcome message, Olaf Scholz highlights the importance of this year's topics: "...the complex interdependency between climate change, food systems, digital transformation, peace and global health. And at the same time the WHS is providing the only right response to all these challenges: bringing experts from all over the world together to facilitate joint, internationally coordinated action."

Global Health as a German Brand Essence - A Plea
Expanding the global health engagement and strengthening of the global health architecture by the European Union, and Germany in particular, is a central call of a policy brief published by Senior Policy Fellow Tobias Bergner and World Health Summit Managing Director Jörg Heldmann for the German Council on Foreign Relations. In light of the new European Union Global Health strategy, the policy brief includes recommendations for action like making sure European contributions to improve global health are always value-based, partnership-oriented and humanitarian-driven.

Save the Date: WHS Regional Meeting 2023
|
The World Health Summit Regional Meeting 2023 will take place on April 13, 2023 in the capital of the United States, Washington DC. Under the theme ‘Bridging the Science to Policy Gap - Opportunities for Academia’, it will highlight the essential role of evidence-based science for the development of global health policy. Hosts and Associates are the four US based members of the M8 Alliance. President of the Regional Meeting 2023 is Adnan Hyder, Senior Associate Dean for Research and Professor of Global Health at the Milken Institute School of Public Health of George Washington University.
