Supported by the WHS Academic Alliance, IAP’s Young Physician Leaders programme brings 23 physicians from around the world to Berlin for leadership development and exchange at the World Health Summit 2026.
The InterAcademy Partnership (IAP) has selected 23 physicians for its 2026 Young Physician Leaders (YPL) programme. Representing Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East, the participants bring diverse perspectives from clinical practice, research, medical education, public health and health policy.
This year’s participants work in fields ranging from neurology, oncology and infectious diseases to health policy and health systems. Based at universities, teaching hospitals, national health institutions and research organisations, many combine clinical work with research, education or efforts to improve healthcare delivery.
Now in its 15th year, the programme supports physicians under 40 as they develop the skills and connections to take on leadership roles in health. More than 280 physicians have joined its alumni network since the programme began.
In Berlin, the participants will take part in leadership development at ESMT Berlin and attend the World Health Summit 2026. The programme offers opportunities to explore international health policy discussions, learn from established global health leaders and exchange experiences with peers working in different settings.
Through its support for the programme, the WHS Academic Alliance helps emerging physician leaders connect with the international global health community and contribute their perspectives to discussions on the future of health.
