That was the 78th World Health Assembly #WHA78

Impressions from the WHS team

Our days in Geneva were not only packed with preparations for our side event but also with handshakes, hallway chats, and high-level conversations. From ministers to researchers, we met inspiring people, heard bold ideas, and gathered plenty of food for thought.

Even though in this WHA we reached historic landmarks such as the pandemic agreement, there is still a lot to do in the global health landscape, especially in these uncertain times. Global health financing is a central issue with reform overdue, moving from the current charity-based model to long-term investments and true partnerships. Now we need more collaboration than ever before - working bottom-up with affected communities to find sustainable solutions for global issues. But instead, we are seeing a shift such as the withdraw of financing by powerful stakeholders. In these fragmenting and uncertain times, we need to take responsibility for health - and we are looking forward to coming together in October for the World Health Summit to continue and intensify the discussions and find realistic and long-lasting solutions.
