WHA 78 Recap: Reflections from Our CEO on the Future of Global Health

Our CEO Carsten Schicker attended the 78th World Health Assembly in Geneva, engaging with partners and stakeholders, and gathering insights on the latest developments in global health. Here are his reflections:

"After an intense week at the World Health Assembly in Geneva — and perhaps looking just a little more tired than I intended on camera — I took a moment to reflect on where global health stands today.

We’ve seen real milestones, like the Pandemic Agreement finally taking shape after three years of negotiations. But we’ve also seen the deep challenges: a fragmented system, funding gaps, shifting geopolitical dynamics.

In this short video, I share some thoughts on:
• What needs to change in global health — from financing to narratives
• Where I find optimism — especially in countries driving their own futures
• Why the World Health Summit this October in Berlin will be so important

Our theme this year says it all:
Taking responsibility for health in a fragmenting world.

Have a look — and let me know your thoughts.
(And yes, sleep is definitely on the agenda before October…)"
