The WHS Academic Alliance Working Group on Health and Science Diplomacy brought together global health diplomacy experts for a webinar to explore the practical tools, strategies, and skills needed to navigate complexity, negotiate interests, build coalitions, and advance health priorities across borders.
On September 17, 2026, the Global Health Diplomacy and Security Program (GHDP) at the AUB Global Health Institute (GHI), in collaboration with George Washington University (GWU), hosted a webinar under the World Health Summit (WHS) Academic Alliance Working Group on Health Science and Diplomacy: “Tradecraft: How the Tools of Global Health Diplomacy Can Help Navigate the Tectonic Shifts in Global Health”.
From the strategic and negotiation dimensions of diplomacy to the role of academia in building the next generation of practitioners, the discussion highlighted the importance of moving beyond understanding a changing global health landscape to developing the capacity to act within it.
The conversation underscored why strengthening global health diplomacy requires not only knowledge of the field, but also the practical tradecraft to engage, negotiate, and build meaningful cooperation.
