Webinar: Multilateral Health Diplomacy vs. Nationalist Agendas

The WHS Academic Alliance Working Group on Health Science and Diplomacy co-hosted its inaugural webinar together with the Global Health Diplomacy and Security Program (GHDP) at the American University of Beirut's Global Health Institute.

In a context where global health is increasingly shaped by geopolitics, this high-level session examined how competing political priorities shape global health governance and security, while highlighting opportunities to strengthen collaboration, coordination, and policy alignment through actionable strategies.

H.E. Amb. Luís Almeida Sampaio, Prof. Ilona Kickbusch and Dr. Shadi Saleh offered complementary insights at the intersection of diplomacy, power, and health. Together, they explored the evolving balance between cooperation and competition in safeguarding global health security, emphasizing the need to reimagine global cooperation, renew multilateral engagement, and adapt governance to emerging geopolitical realities.
