A tree for every WHS 2025 participant

Taking responsibility - for health, for each other, for our planet - is at the heart of the World Health Summit (WHS). The WHS continues its commitment to sustainability with a wide range of initiatives aimed at reducing its environmental footprint and promoting climate-resilient global health systems.

For every participant of the World Health Summit 2025, a tree is planted in Uganda through our ongoing partnership with Tree Adoption Uganda. The trees are planted at health facilities and part of a broader initiative that includes training for community health workers on the intersection of climate and health. This helps build climate-adaptive and resilient health systems in vulnerable regions.

In addition to tree planting, WHS 2025 implements a holistic sustainability concept:

  • Full offsetting of all estimated CO₂ emissions from speaker flights

  • Vegetarian, regional, and organic catering

  • Increasing the use of digital tools and e-signatures to limit paper consumption

  • Environmentally conscious giveaways and reusable branding

  • A fully accessible venue with low-emission transportation options

With climate change as one of the greatest threats for health, the World Health Summit demonstrates sustainability and impactful global dialogue.
