Initiated during the World Health Summit 2025, the Working Group on Health & Science Diplomacy held its first meeting last week. Bringing together more than 17 experts across 11 WHS Academic Alliance member institutions representing countries across geopolitical blocs, with the Global Health Institute at the American University of Beirut serving as secretariat. The group focuses on strengthening the intersection of health, science, and diplomacy in addressing global health challenges.
Through cross-sector collaboration, the Working Group aims to mobilize evidence, dialogue, and partnerships to support more coordinated, equitable, and sustainable global health action.
To advocate for and highlight the positive impact of diplomacy, engaged dialogue, and evidence as cornerstones for improved global health outcomes.
To explore approaches and tools that optimize the combined impact of health, science, and diplomacy in advancing global cooperation and wellbeing.
To formally launch the World Health Summit Working Group on Health and Science Diplomacy, including an introduction to its vision and planned workstreams, alongside a call for partners and collaborators to maximize reach and impact.
