New Commentary: Strategic Pathways for Health Cooperation in the Global South
A new commentary, developed from discussions at the World Health Summit Regional Meeting 2025 in New Delhi, has been published. It identifies five strategic pathways for reimagining health cooperation in the Global South:
Prioritizing health in non-health multilateral forums such as the G20, ASEAN, and BRICS
Strengthening South-South cooperation through shared innovations and collective capacity-building
Moving beyond donor-recipient models with innovative co-investment financing
Leveraging the demographic dividend to expand markets
Reinforcing domestic health systems
The authors emphasize that today’s shifting global health architecture presents a critical opportunity for the Global South to shape multilateralism into a more inclusive, equitable, and responsive system.
This perspective reflects the mission of the WHS Regional Meetings: enabling regional voices to influence global dialogue and drive equitable health governance. These discussions will continue at the World Health Summit 2025 in Berlin, October 12–14.
