Since 1989, the European Resuscitation Council (ERC) has provided the standard for resuscitation guidelines and training in Europe and beyond. A network of 33 National Resuscitation Councils (NRCs) represents the ERC at national level. Each NRC oversees delivery of guidelines, resuscitation training and quality control in its respective country. The ERC aims to preserve human life by making high-quality resuscitation available to all.
The main activities are: Support and initiation of scientific studies related to resuscitation, publication of European Resuscitation Guidelines that are the standard for resuscitation practice and training in and beyond Europe, definition of standards for delivery of high-quality training and certification of providers who successfully complete resuscitation courses.
