Founded 2001, Universities Allied for Essential Medicines (UAEM) is a nonprofit student organization which seeks to improve access to medicines in low- and middle-income countries. UAEM's mission is to ensure that all people worldwide have access to life-saving medicines researched and discovered at universities. It comprises more than 100 groups at universities in 18 countries around the globe. UAEM's international advisory board features senior experts such as Nobel Laureate Sir John Sulston and Dr. Paul Farmer, founder of Partners in Health.
