Ariane Hildebrandt is Director General at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), Germany. She is responsible for “global health, equality of opportunity, digital technologies and food security”. This includes education, social protection, decent work, global value chains, circular economy, water, agriculture, rural development and data management.
Ariane Hildebrandt has worked in various positions of the ministry since 1998. Before she joined BMZ, she worked for the Federal Ministry of Finance and at the University of Würzburg, where she obtained her PhD. She holds a degree in economics and an MBA from the State University of New York at Albany, USA.
