About Liliane Nkengurutse

DR NKENGURUTSE Liliane, is a Public Health Doctor, PHD fellow at the University of Burundi. She has been an expert in public health emergency management for 13 years since the District Hospital lever where she had to manage repeated cholera epidemics. She continued to manage emergencies at the central level of the Ministry of Public Health, whether in the epidemiological emergency and response services where she coordinated the rapid Response Team at the central level, but also at COUSP where, first as planning officer and then as Director of COUSP, she played a major role in the planning, preparation and coordination of the response to the various endemic epidemics of cholera, measles, the threat of Ebola and Covid-19 and currently mpox. She had to develop plans, ensure collaboration with stakeholders, monitor implementation but also ensure the management of resources, whether human, material or financial, allocated to emergency management. Among the plans developed under his coordination we can enumerate for exemple the strategic plan for oxygen therapy and guide of oxygen production in Burundi, the strategic plan for the elimination of cholera in Burundi, the strategic plan for COUSP, and the guide for event monitoring. Its collaboration with the various stakeholders made it possible to mobilize the necessary resources and, above all, to achieve the expected objectives. She has also participated in many international coordination meetings and is currently a member of the Africa CDC Technical and Advisory Committee in the Central African region.
