Joining Forces for Global Health

The World Health Summit Regional Meeting 2023 was held in partnership with the Annual Conference of the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) CUGH 2023 and the Global Innovation Forum organized by the Association of Academic Health Centers International (AAHCI). Hosted by the US-based members of the M8 Alliance, the academic backbone of the World Health Summit, this collaboration focussed on joining forces for global health and created a unique opportunity for knowledge exchange and partnership building. The conjunction between global health and development was a further focus, as the World Bank Group’s spring meeting 2023 took place during the same time in Washington DC.


Hosts & Associates

In association with the other US-based M8 Alliance members Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health and the United States National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine as part of IAP.


Theme

Under the theme of 'Bridging the Science to Policy Gap for Global Health' the World Health Summit Regional Meeting 2023 highlighted the essential role of evidence-based science for the development of global health policy.

World Health Summit International President 2023

Dr. Adnan Hyder is Senior Associate Dean for Research and Professor of Global Health at the Milken Institute School of Public Health of George Washington University. For over 25 years, Dr. Hyder has worked to improve global health in low- and middle- income countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East; and pioneered empirical work around health systems, ethics, non-communicable diseases, and injury prevention in over 90 countries around the world. He has authored over 400 scientific peer-reviewed papers and numerous world reports with organizations like the World Bank, World Health Organization and UNICEF. Dr. Hyder did his MD from the Aga Khan University, Pakistan and his MPH and PhD from Johns Hopkins University, USA.
