Startup Track

Innovation is the driving force for improving human wellbeing. To support fresh ideas, we will give a voice to promising startups in the field of global health.

The “WHS Startup Track” offers participants the chance to display their business ideas and to network with the world’s leading minds in the healthcare sector. They will establish strategic partnerships to improve their visibility and credibility.

New Voices in Global Health (NVGH) 2015

The NVGH initiative promotes the active participation of young scientists in the World Health Summit. It is supported by the M8 Alliance of Academic Health Centers, Universities and National Academies. It aims to empower research, policy and advocacy initiatives among future leaders in global health, who are invited to submit abstracts for their scientific work and ideas.

Selected candidates will present their work in a special poster exhibition, thus playing an active role in the WHS. Abstracts will be published digitally at

“Next Generation of Science Journalists” Award

To support the recognition of emerging medical science journalists and their contribution towards public understanding of science, we present again the “Next Generation of Science Journalists” Award.

It offers a unique international networking and learning opportunity for a genuine career head-start.

The award is a cooperation with Deutsches Ärzteblatt, the European Union of Science Journalists’ Associations (EUSJA), and the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting.

Looking Back: WHS Regional Meeting - Kyoto 2015 (April 13-14)

More than 600 participants gathered in Kyoto for the WHS Regional Meeting 2015. They enjoyed two days of keynotes, symposia and workshops with international experts addressing regional and global challenges for health.

A significant highlight and visible outcome was the joint M8 Alliance Kyoto - Fukushima Statement:
