World Health Summit Regional Meeting - Asia

Health is intrinsically linked to the well-being of societies, and maintaining a healthy Asia will be beneficial to all in the region and the world. Accordingly, Singapore is hosting the first World Health Summit, Regional Meeting – Asia, Singapore 2013 from April 8th – 10th.

The event will be opened by Singapore’s Prime Minister, Mr. Lee Hsien Loong, the theme is "Health for Sustainable Development in Asia", including four sub-themes:

•    The Impact of Health on Asian Economies
•    Financing Health Care in Asia
•    Innovations in Health in Asia
•    Emerging Health Threats in Asia

The World Health Summit Film 2012

The year 2012 saw a wonderful meeting of both old and new friends and colleagues at the World Health Summit in Berlin. The more than inspiring days were filmed for you and produced hours of footage.

Milestones and Highlights

The M8 Alliance meeting in Baltimore (April) and the World Health Summit (October) have been our highlights for 2012 – a year with various interesting and inspiring events, meetings and projects.

Speaker Presentations Available

More than 100 speakers, contributing to the World Health Summit 2012, agreed to make their presentations available after the Summit. Among them are Gerd Binnig (Nobel Prize Laureate), Zsuzsanna Jakab (WHO Regional Director), Severin Schwan (CEO, Roche group) and many more.

These presentations are accessible for everybody who partook in the Book of Participants of this year's Summit.

Picture Update: All Keynotes, Sessions and Workshops

Almost 300 speakers discussed, informed, and raised awareness in over 50 sessions at the World Health Summit 2012. Their efforts were met by much interest of participants and media representatives.

WHS 2012 - Summary, Facts, Figures & Outlook

The World Health Summit proved again its status as the pre-eminent annual forum of the medical and scientific community.

‘Research for Health and Sustainable Development’ was the theme for 2012, articulating the urgent need of finding novel solutions for non-communicable diseases and conditions of global concern, like obesity, diabetes, and mental illness.

WHS 2012 Publication Available Online

Complementing the deliberations of the World Health Summit, the publication seeks to bring new insights to the ongoing policy debates occurring within all aspects of world health.

Key issues reflected in the Summit’s agenda and explored in the book include the importance of sustainable development and international cooperation in shaping the future of healthcare systems, and how well-funded research and development will assist in tackling both current and predicted challenges.
