New Keynote Speakers confirmed!
Antoine Flahault is dean of the EHESP School of Public Health (Ecole des hautes études en santé publique) and a professor in epidemiology at the University Paris-Descartes. He directed a public health department at the hospital Tenon in Paris and was also responsible of the national system of communicable disease surveillance in France.
Mickey Chopra took up his post as Chief of Health and Associate Director of Programmes at UNICEF’s New York Headquarters in August 2009, leading the agency’s work on maternal, newborn and child health, immunization, pediatric HIV/AIDS, and health systems strengthening, policy and research.
Jane Waterman is the IAVI (International AIDS Vaccine Initiative) Executive Director in Europe and oversees activities across 10 European countries and the European Union institutions. A member of IAVI’s Senior Management Team, she guides IAVI’s programs in Europe, covering advocacy and policy research, resource mobilization, communications and media relations.

The World Health Summit provides a limited number of 10 complimentary registration grants and 5 travel grants for NPO employees and students, who’s work addresses questions of health care of a high global impact and develops perspectives of clinical application to increase global health. Travel grants include travel, accommodation and registration for the duration of the summit. Application Deadline is August 31st, 2011. For more information and application visit the Summit website.

The Economic Crisis: Impacts on Health
The current financial crisis impacts on health of populations worldwide. More than ever countries are struggling to afford the cost of health care systems. Many reforms emphasize short term effects and interests of individual stakeholders rather than looking at health system in the whole and the global picture.
